The Woolmark Company named New York-based fashion designer Jason Wu an ambassador and global authority on wool. The announcement came after Wu visited the Woolmark’s wool farm in South Wales, Australia.

As an ambassador, Wu incorporated wool into a number of his Spring ’17 pieces, including knitwear made with fine Merino wool yarns in a combination of deep, saturated and vibrant hues. Woven pieces feature a burnout technique. Meanwhile, other woven fabrics are gauze-like with open weaves.

Through an ambassador program, Woolmark aims to elevate the fiber’s reputation and place in the luxury apparel market. The company has also worked with designers Narciso Rodriguez, Rajesh Pratap Singh and a team of Savile Row tailors.

We have already seen Jason’s unique take on wool in his Fall/Winter 2016 collection, where the tidy parameters of his brand unveiled a serious wardrobe with a luxurious overlay,” he added.
