Watercolor hues and threadbare effects are part of Vicunha Textil’s light and dreamy concept for Spring/Summer 2018.
The Brazilian denim mill is channeling its inner artist with their “Hot Washes” and “Artsy Surfaces” collections—each culling inspiration from the sky and sea.
Light washes, gentle color and bubble effects echo the movement of waves and patterns created by the tide. Hand craft and batik techniques, hand stained patterning and light embroideries result in organic textures and shapes.
Vicunha’s vintage story for the season focuses on creating garments with a dirtied threadbare appearance. Wear-and-tear, patinas and repair combine to create individual and personalized looks.
For young consumers, the mill is pairing deconstructed shapes with 80’s wash effects, including marbling and color contrasts. The overall look calls for bold imbalances in size, shapes, scale and washes, bringing a creative and courageous appearance to denim.
