Kitschy online lifestyle retailer ModCloth has tapped denim brand marketing veteran Mary Alderete to join as chief marketing officer. Alderete brings over 20 years of experience from fashion and retail brands, including True Religion, Levi Strauss & Co. and Gap.

In a statement, ModCloth CEO Matthew Kaness said, “We have a clear vision for the future of ModCloth and exciting expansion plans, including offline, international and brand extensions – all areas where Mary has tremendous experience.”

Alderete’s appointment is one piece of a puzzle to grow ModCloth’s footprint. The company also announced the addition of it’s first-ever vice president of stores and retail operations, Elizabeth Cooksey. Cooksey played an instrumental role in launching ModCloth’s first prototype physical store last July in San Francisco. She previously directed store development for Nike, Free People, BHLDN, Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters.

Additionally, the company has hired Mike Janover as vice president of marketing. Janover will be responsible for customer acquisition and retention, and promotions.
