A new account of the work of Renzo Rosso, the so-called Jeans Genius, is being released for the entrepreneur’s sixtieth birthday.

Assouline is releasing Radical Renaissance 60, commemorating Rosso’s creation of the OTB group, the alternative luxury fashion group that includes Diesel, Maison Margiela, Marni and Viktor & Rolf.

In the early 1970s, Renzo Rosso used his mother’s sewing machine to create a pair of extravagant flared pants—the first move on his path to creating a portfolio of companies marked by a streak of rebellion.

The book features provocative photography from the OTB brands’ campaigns and runway shows, as well as previously unreleased behind-the-scenes images. The book also examines designers including Martin Margiela, John Galliano, Consuelo Castiglioni and Nicola Formichetti. The book’s text is written by Dan Thawley, the editor in chief of A Magazine Curated By.
