NBA players have a reputation for embracing fashion on and off the basketball court, so it only makes sense that, for New York Fashion Week, NBA players will take the runway on Friday. Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is producing the NBA’s first-ever fashion show with his production company, Springhill, in association with Turner Sports and IMG.
Billed as a “competition,” the show will pair current NBA players with a model and a stylist to walk the runway. The pool of eight players in the first round will be narrowed down to four in the semifinals, and a final face-off. The three rounds will each have their own themes, consisting of dressing for the boardroom, for a night out, and for the big game.
Participating players include James Harden, Klay Thompson, Chandler Parsons, DeMarcus Cousins, and Zach LaVine. IMG models reported to participate include Erin Heatherton, Chanel Iman, Rachel Hilbert, and Shanina Shaik. Judging the talent will be Inside the NBA’s Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith, designer John Elliott, WNBA star Elena Delle Donne, and GQ style editor Will Welch. Shaquille O’Neal will serve as emcee.
The one-hour show — NBA All-Star All-Style presented by Samsung Galaxy — is slated to air on Saturday, 6:30 p.m. on TNT.
