Known for his industrial design, Marc Newson continues to redefine classic American sportswear by fusing European and Japanese streetwear influences for next season.
The Fall ’15 collection titled “cross-pollination” marks his 11th anniversary collaborating with G-Star RAW.
“It is of great importance and interest to me that my work in one industry inspires my work in another industry. I am a great believer in the cross-pollination of ideas, processes, materials, and technologies,” Newson said.
Continuing the signature style of reconfigured American outfits, next season offers strong military and workwear-inspired outerwear via wool coach and bomber jackets and a wale corduroy baseball jacket, which comes in a quilted with moto-style hidden elasticated cuffs. Highlights include a quilted overshirt in rip stop nylon inspired by hunting jackets, a lumberjack wool overshirt and a jogger chino reconstructed from an archival military tank and cut from Japanese-woven denim.
The G-Star by Marc Newson Fall ’15 collection will be available online and in stores in September.
