Denim hits the high seas in Kaihara Denim’s latest concept for jeans, Cruising Jeans.

The Japanese company debuted a unique method of producing jeans by exposing the denim fabrics to the Seto Inland Sea as a sail last week. The sodium and magnesium contained in the sea breezes combine with the indigo, making the fabric resistant to fading.

After cruising over a total distance of more than 400 miles in a 40-day period, Kaihara made the denim sail into a limited collection of jeans, T-shirts, bags and shoes. Consumers can purchase items on Fujimaki. The brand rep told Rivet the company is looking for more retail partners.
