Dickies continues to make good on its focus for utility and safety. Workrite Uniform Co. has developed a Dickies FR denim jean collection using Mount Vernon FR’s flame resistant fabric.
The collection uses a 13-ounce fabric from Mount Vernon FR called Mustang Flex. The durable material provides mobility without altering the level of protection, using an elastomeric fiber which gets rid of the saggy, baggy look common of worn-out workwear jeans. This technology is not only flame-resistant, but also allows for a wide range of motion and comfort.
“We always aim to provide consumers with garments that not only meet their needs for protection from hazards such as electric arc flash or flash fire, but also accommodate the comfort they want and deserve,” said Mark Saner, Workrite Uniform Co. technical manager. “Working with Mount Vernon FR has allowed us to create flame resistant clothing that offers the best of both worlds without tradeoffs in comfort, durability or protection.”
The flame-resistant pants come in two washes, with a relaxed contemporary fit. The safe material is also used in denim shirts, and retails for upwards of $70. Both are available online now.
“We believe safety managers should never have to make compromises when it comes to the comfort and durability of the FR apparel that they provide to their employees,” said Mike Woods, Mount Vernon FR vice president of FR fabrics. “Working with Dickies FR on this line of flame resistant jeans enables us to combine our shared dedication to innovation and customer satisfaction to create a collection that has durable FR protection, and looks and feels good.”
