David Beckham has a new team. The soccer star and his long-time business partner Simon Fuller have signed a joint venture deal with Li & Fung subsidiary Global Brands to develop a menswear line.
Global Brands roster of brands and licensing agreements spans 350 brands, including Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Under Armour to celebrity lines with Jennifer Lopez, Sean Jean and Rachel Zoe.
Since hanging up his boots, Beckham has collaborated on a number of fashion projects. He launched a line of men’s swimwear and underwear with H&M in 2012 and has continued his partnership with Adidas. He also designed a capsule collection of leather jackets for Belstaff and starred in the brand’s 2014 ad campaign.
News of Beckham’s menswear deal comes just days after his wife Victoria Beckham’s eponymous women’s line was named British Brand of the Year at the British Fashion Awards. And the Beckham’s have passed their sartorial instincts onto their children. Eldest son Brooklyn, 15, made his modeling debut earlier this year in Mad About Town magazine, while 12-year-old son Romeo became an instant sensation starring in Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign.
