Butcher of Blue tapped denim artist Pey of Sashikodenim to create seven one-of-a-kind denim pieces. The jeans were available exclusively at Amsterdam Denim Days’ Blueprint Festival.
Each jean is crafted to become the wearer’s “future favorite jean” and reflects the brand’s mission to promote quality product and repair over replace.
Touted as wearable art, the collection ‘California Dreamers x Sashikodenim’ offers seven hand repaired jeans as unique examples of what a pair of might go through during a lifespan.
“My main motivation behind creating these pieces of denim art is to take action against today’s fast cycle of ‘use turned to waste’. I only use the traditional Japanese mending technique ‘sashiko’ to repair jeans, all by hand, one stitch at the time,” said Pey. “The focus and dedication needed to repairing and altering denim with this technique is what makes it a head-turner.”
