Wolf & Badger, the British retailer known for carrying a wide array of independent fashion brands, is opening its first U.S. store in Manhattan next year.
The retailer’s new flagship location will be located at 95 Grand Street in SoHo, and is expected to open by February 2017.
With this new location, Wolf & Badger will be introducing many European labels to the U.S. market for the first time. Additionally, the store will carry new independent labels based in the U.S.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to finally bring our concept of super-curated, high-quality independent designer brands to the wider US market. There’s nothing like what we do in U.S. and since New York is a key destination for fashion, we are delighted to have the opportunity to welcome its discerning residents to our store to discover something new and different,” said Wolf & Badger Co-Founder and CEO George Graham.
The company hopes that the New York store will help strengthen online business among Americans, with 20 percent of their e-commerce already coming from the U.S. While almost 90 percent of all Wolf & Badger’ business happens online, Graham said there is a desire for customers to experience and engage with the brands in person which gives the retail space value.
“With Brexit looming and the UK entering a period of uncertainty, we are extremely pleased to be entering the US market and facilitating independent brands to seamlessly reach a wider customer base around the world, ensuring continued opportunity for independent labels even if the European market starts to close up,” said Graham.
