American Eagle is winning Twitter praise for introducing its first denim hijab. Available exclusively online, American Eagle is selling the soft denim hijab for $19.95 with the tagline, “Wear it our way. Make it as original as you are.”
The brand features Muslim model Halima Aden wearing the hijab on its homepage. The images are part of American Eagle’s new campaign that shows a diverse group of models in untouched photos. On Twitter, the company wrote that it first noticed Aden when she competed in the 2016 Miss Minnesota USA contest in a burkini and hijab.
Consumers took to social media to applaud the brand for taking a step toward inclusivity, posting positive comments and emojis.
