Ripped skinny jeans had a moment in 2014. The shredded style nabbed the No. 1 spot on Editd’s list of best selling U.S. fashion trends in 2014. The jeans ranked second on the U.K. list ousted by kimono tops.
The worldwide data monitoring system reported that ripped jeans have been a high performing trend, demonstrating dramatic spikes in product numbers, as well as low discounting and fast sell through.
The top five best selling ripped jeans to make Editd’s list include: moto ripped ‘Jamie’ jeans by Topshop, baggy ripped jeans by Topshop Boutique, ‘Edie’ extreme ripped skinny jeans from Missguided, Asos’ ‘Ridley’ skinny jeans with thigh rip, and ‘Adriana’ relaxed skinny jeans by Boohoo.
Other leading trends in the U.S. were kimono jackets, midi skirts, floral dresses and cami dresses. Worst selling products spanned lace trim gingham cami from Asos and a romper by Rachel Roy to asymmetrical hem skirts by River Island and platform wedges.
Editd’s analysis is based on data gathered from Jan. 1 to Dec 4, 2014 and takes into account more than 12 million data points from products sold by U.S. and U.K. retailers.
