Bangladesh Denim Expo (BDE) aims to foster networks and connections at its sixth and largest trade show in Dhaka, Bangladesh May 17-18.
For the first time, BDE will be held in two different halls at the Convention City, Bashundhara, doubling its space. Over 10,000 pre-registered visitors are expected to attend.
The May event also marks the first time BDE will be part of See Now, Buy Now, a local event by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Center for Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries that connects international buyers with Bangladesh suppliers.
The show’s theme, “Denim Networks,” underlines the growing importance of developing long-term relationships and shared strategies to improve sustainable manufacturing processes.
“Network is a key concept of contemporary society, and the denim industry is the highest expression of this. To face the important challenges ahead for markets nowadays, we believe that it is absolutely necessary to create connections, share knowledge and ideas, build together—as a community—the best practices that will shape a brighter and more sustainable future for denim,” said Mostafiz Uddin, Bangladesh Denim Expo founder and CEO.
BDE will host events that promote these ideas. Garment finishing company Tonello will present a seminar about new concepts in finishing that consider cultural, economic, ecological and technical trends. Attendees can also view a virtual tour of a fabric mill, denim factory and laundry inside new virtual reality booths.
A new Information Exchange concept is part of BDE’s effort to encourage conversation and networking. The concept will be part of the show’s expanded Trend Zone area, which will highlight Autumn/Winter 2018-2019 trends and innovation. Visitors can also view displays dedicated to denim repair and Sashiko stitch.
